Acceptable Use Policy
Anderbuch is a place for stories — including dark, tense and difficult ones. This policy sets out where the limits are. It applies to everything you enter, everything written for you and everything you publish, and is part of the Terms of Service. This is a convenience translation; the German version prevails.
1. What fiction may do
Stories may tell of crime, war, violence, betrayal, grief, addiction, cruelty and morally questionable characters. A character may do or think terrible things without the story endorsing them. What can be depicted depends on your content level:
- Standard (default): suspense, conflict and violence without graphic description. No sexual content.
- Mature (to be switched on explicitly in Settings): additionally dark and distressing themes and more graphic violence. Romance and intimacy are possible, but sexual acts fade to black.
2. What is always prohibited
Regardless of content level, and even as fiction, the following is prohibited:
- Any sexual depiction of minors or of characters who appear or are described as minors — without exception, including by implication, in fantasy worlds, and regardless of any claim that they are "actually adults".
- Explicit sexual content of any kind.
- Sexual violence that is glorified or presented as erotic.
- Sexual or degrading content about real people, and content that defames, exposes or threatens real people.
- Instructions with real-world potential for harm, even when wrapped in a story: making weapons, explosives or drugs, malware and cyberattacks, dangerous self-harm or suicide methods.
- Glorification of or support for terrorism and violent extremism, and content prohibited under Austrian law, in particular the Prohibition Act (Verbotsgesetz).
- Incitement to hatred against people because of their origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or other protected characteristics.
- Personal data of third parties (for example addresses, phone numbers), and spying on or exposing others.
- Content that infringes the rights of others, in particular publishing worlds that take over substantial parts of protected works.
- Anything that is illegal under applicable law.
3. Prohibited use
- Circumventing allowances, age limits, content checks or security measures (for example through multiple accounts or manipulated input).
- Automated access, scraping and loading the service beyond its intended use.
- Passing on or selling your account or access.
- Using Anderbuch to generate text for deception, spam or fraud.
- Misrepresenting AI-generated text from Anderbuch as factual reports about real events or people.
4. How we enforce this policy
- Automated checks: input and text are checked automatically. If a text breaches the level of your account, it is rewritten once or not generated; you are told.
- Reports: anyone can report content through our reporting procedure.
- Measures: depending on severity and repetition: removing content, withdrawing a published world, a warning, restricting features, temporary or permanent account suspension. Suspensions are always decided by a human. We give reasons for every measure and tell you how to complain.
- Criminal offences: where there are indications of child sexual abuse material, we suspend the account immediately and report it to the competent bodies (in Austria, the Federal Criminal Police Office's reporting office or Stopline). Where there are indications of a threat to the life or safety of people, we inform the authorities (Art. 18 Digital Services Act).
5. If you are not doing well
Stories can touch on distressing themes. If you are in crisis yourself, please turn to people who can help — in Austria, for example, Telefonseelsorge on 142 (24/7, free of charge) or Rat auf Draht on 147 for young people. In an emergency: 112.
